Something special for you all today...
Back in To Kill a Fae, Sabine, Malek, Dax, and Bane sat around a tavern table playing a gambling game together.
And because my brain is apparently incapable of leaving things alone, it got me thinking...
What if the game were real?
For the past several months, in between working on Forest of Secrets, I’ve also been quietly building a browser game set in the taverns of Aeslion. It started as one of those “wouldn’t this be fun?” ideas and somehow turned into a full little tavern adventure with characters, unlocks, tavern events, chaos, and (of course) Blossom shenanigans.
And now it’s live!
You can play Crossbones of Aeslion here:
The game is free to play and runs in your browser, so there’s nothing to download. For the best experience, I recommend playing on a desktop, laptop, or tablet in landscape mode. Sound is also recommended if you can use it, because some of the tavern moments are just more fun that way.
In Crossbones of Aeslion, you’ll travel through taverns inspired by The Dragon Portal series, meet familiar characters, unlock lore, and try your luck at the table. You don’t have to be caught up on the books to play, but readers may recognize a few familiar faces and places along the way.
And yes, there’s a bonus at the end if you win.
I’ll also be promoting the game at Space Coast Book Lovers this weekend, so if you’re attending, come see me at Table 46! I’d love to hear what you think after you’ve had a chance to play.
So dive in, give it a whirl, and let me know what tavern you end up loving most.
May your tokens be lucky, your coins plentiful, and your pixies only mildly chaotic.
